Once upon a time, long ago, as far back as the long ago days of your grandparents, married couples didn’t have the right, in some states, to choose to use birth control!! Can you imagine?
That is, until 1965 when Griswold v. Connecticut was decided. It basically gave married people the right to decide not to have kids if they didn’t want to. Eventually that right spread to all people who wanted access to birth control for other reasons, or in different situations.
Today we recognize that the right to decide if you want kids, how many kids, how far apart kids, etc. is inherent to each person. Today, please remember that people with uteruses are often still required to get signatures from spouses or parents (#freeBritney), forced to undergo counselling, or made to wait until they are much older to get their tubes tied, get a hysterectomy, or even get something like an IUD inserted or removed.
Doctors in 2022 are refusing to provide medical care to people, including birth control, because of their “religious views.” Honour the people who have sacrificed for the cause to progress this far, help keep it going until birth control is a human right no matter what religion your doctor is!!!!
